Gyeongju is a coastal city 370 km southeast of Seoul and it was the capital of the ancient kingdom of Silla (57 BC – 935 AD) which ruled the Korean Peninsula between the 7th and 9th centuries.
It is an open air museum with a vast number of archaeological and cultural sites. This historical richness helped Gyeongju become one of the most popular tourist destinations in South Korea and World Heritage by UNESCO.
